Biography:
Bobby always had a lot of ideas of what he could be and wanted to be, just no direction of how to get to those places. Sure he had his parents and his brother to give him all the help that he would ever want or need, it was just the places they were sending him and the resources they were giving him, were not putting him on the path that he wanted to be on.
Bobby was born in Virginia, a second generation Korean American as well as second born in his family. They were happy to have another son, figuring he'd be easy and agreeable like his older brother, but no, Bobby was a handful. He was always curious getting into things that he shouldn't have. There were not one, but two visits to the emergency room for something he did before he was eight. In school he did have a few behavioral problems, but his mother dismissed them and used the excuse that his father was always working and that's was the problem.
The truth was Bobby was just curious, and easily bored, especially in class, and what his teacher called 'misbehaving' made his peers laugh, as well as making him the center of attention and he enjoyed that. As he grew older, he didn't really change too much, but realizing that he most importantly were making girls laughed, and of course for a boy who was going through the motions as a teenager there was nothing more important to him then making a girl, a pretty girl especially, laugh.
He became popular for being the class clown, and though that title and hilarious charm got him girls from time to time, he could never keep them. He had heard a few time, from girls who became his ex-girlfriends, that he didn't take anything seriously. Because of that, he never had the chance at a serious relationship. He thought they took life too seriously anyway, and maybe some of them did, but knowing Bobby it seemed all of them were right and Bobby was wrong.
The fact that he didn't take life seriously showed his teachers and authority figures that he didn't take his future seriously. He had the things he loved, such as music (he taught himself how to rap and create what he called lyrical masterpieces), he had learned how to play the guitar when he was younger and kept up with that, he knew he was funny, he liked fashion (he wouldn't tell anyone he knew how to work a sew machine, or liked it at all), he was a great story teller, and very athletic, joining as many as he could. He could keep his grades at B's despite his problems with behavior, but he never ever would tell anyone what he wanted to do with his life. He had no idea.
He was sure a good paying job, fame, a family was in there somewhere but he didn't know how he would go a long getting those things, and the ideas forced on him, made him roll his eyes. He didn't want to go into law even though he was extremely good at arguing his point. A doctor? Yes, he knew how to patch himself up well, and his teammates when they were injured, but he did that to be nice not because he wanted to. Teach? That was laughable. Nothing that was suggested to him gave him any ideas, and they all seemed like he would lead a boring life.
Bobby was sent to Korea after he graduated. He had been accepted to a few school in the U.S. But after his parents found that he turned them down to 'find himself', they were not gonna allow him to do that on their couch watching trashy reality shows and cartoons. They sent him to live with his newly divorced aunt. Her husband had just run off with a younger woman and left her alone with two young children. His parent thought if he learned some resposiblility and there, and help out, he may come to find something to do.
Pretty much when he got there, it was tougher than living at home. He was the man of the house, and was given more responsibility then he had before. He worked, it was a delivery job, but most of his paychecks went towards the household, and he had chores, had to take his cousins to school in the morning so his aunt could go to her editors job, or to court because of something her good for nothing husband did. He didn't like it, but Bobby had to be responsible. He was an adult after all.
He called his mother often to complain and ask why she would subject him to this life when all he wanted to do was to take a little time to himself and find out what he wanted to do. His mother of course gave him a long lecture each and every time, but one thing stood out to him, 'find yourself? That's what college is for.'
There was a bit of a celebration when Bobby applied for schools in Korea, and an even bigger one when he applied to Yonsei. Though his elders thought they had 'finally gotten through to him', it was his brother instead. One conversation about the parties and girls, Bobby was set on attending a school. If he happened to figure out what he wanted to do along the way? Well that was just a bonus.
1. Bobby rarely goes by Jiwon. It's what his family calls him, and is reserved for their use.
2. He can be easily distracted but the only time his focus can't be broken his when he has his earbuds in and a pen and notebook in hand.... Considering how easily he's distracted it's surprising. It's probably because he can't hear a damn thing.
3. He can play guitar well, but he's usually only pulling it out to play some stupid ad libed song.
4. Please don't ask him to sing. He'll do so gladly, but you may find yourself regretting it.
5. He'll gladly make a fool out of himself if asked, also to impress someone, cheer someone up, or to steal the spotlight.
6. He still does deliveries to help support himself, it's easy for him to do between classes.
7. Winnie The Pooh.... It's a bit of an obsession but only people who have been in his room know how serious it is.
8. He sometimes talks in English and Korean at the same time. It was just how he was raised in his household.
9. He'll take on almost any dare that he is given. If he won't be arrested, or die, or harm anyone else, or most of his dignity, he's all for it.
10. Even now he's not used to Korean food. He claims he has simple taste like a child, or 'American' taste.
11. Anything he's seriously written himself (may it be the guitar or his lyrics) he's very reluctant to share. He may have a mild case of stage fright when it's time for him to get people to take him seriously.
12. He has bunny teeth but they don't bother him he feels like it's part of his charm.
